What is the Main Cause of Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a silent, but deadly condition where a person wakes up more than 10 times, causing them to lose proper sleep. You can see where this might cause serious issues. For example, sleep apnea can cause heart disease, high-blood pressure, and even diabetes. So knowing that, what is the main cause of sleep apnea? According to WebMD, there are two major causes of sleep apnea: one for adults and one for children. 

Cause 1: Obesity – Adults 

Not only does obesity lead to other diseases and health problems, but it’s the major cause of sleep apnea. One reason for this is the soft tissue of the mouth and throat blocking the airways at night. But obesity isn’t the only cause of sleep apnea; therefore, getting a sleep test will determine if you need treatment. 

Cause 2: Tonsils – Children
